Age of accountability

The age of accountability is when someone can understand right from wrong intellectually and accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior. This is the age when someone can get saved, baptized, and otherwise participate fully in the spiritual life. This is also when someone can be held accountable for their sins and be punished in Hell. This age differs from person to person, but in a person who is of average mental acuity, this usually occurs in the preadolescent years. It may not occur at all in persons with severe mental disabilities, and those who are too young or too mentally disabled to understand right from wrong, they go to Heaven by the grace of God should they pass away.
