Baptismal regeneration

Baptismal regeneration is a heretical view held by the Roman Catholic Church, Eastern Orthodox Church, and many Protestant circles that baptism somehow has supernatural qualities and provides remission for sins instead of simply being a symbolic ordinance as said in Scripture. This misunderstanding of the nature of baptism often results in the perpetuation of infant baptism and baptism by means other than immersion.
